Ways to BE !

1. Be courteous towards, and interested in, every person you meet. We
become more spiritual by treating every person as a somebody.

2. Reverse unworthy thoughts when they come. By refusing to look down
on any person, or even to be critical, we raise our own self-esteem.

3. Release the need to be “right.” There are always times when we are
sure of our position. But truth needs no defenders, since in the long
run it is self-evident and self-proving.

4. Let others save face as often as possible. Even when you know others
are victims of sick pride, do not show them up by proving them wrong on
specific matters. If an error must be corrected, do it gently and
discreetly so others are not humiliated.

5. Always recognize a personal need for help: “Of myself, I can do
nothing, it’s God who does the work.”

6. Give credit freely, even at your own expense. We can never be
permanently harmed by this practice, because our own will always come
back to us.

7. Drop practices that are related to showing off or to obtaining
recognition for its own sake.

8. Make amends continuously, even when the other person is partly to
blame for the trouble. And be quick to apologize to children and
subordinates as we would to people of power and prominence.

Start pleasing yourself.

Make sure your shoe souls are clean when you’re walking through someone else’s life.

Upon awakening each day, use the following quotation.. ” Thank You God, for this day…
let’s get out there and see what wonderful stuff we can accomplish “TOGETHER”.

Always praise a person for a job well done.

Praise your children often.

Words we should say more often: “LOVE YOU”.

Never say good-bye or good night to your husband, child, mother, father, dear friends, without making sure they’ve heard or felt your “LOVE YOU” message.

Remember that the world does not expect you to be more than you are capable of being, but it does expect you to try to live up to all that you were created for.

You can’t turn back the clock, but you can wind it up again.

You Are Very Special

In all the world there is nobody, nobody like you. Since the beginning of time there has never been another person like you. Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hands, your hair. Nobody owns your handwriting, your voice. You’re Special.

Nobody can paint your brush strokes. Nobody has your taste for food or music or dance or art. Nobody in the universe sees things as you do. In all time there has never been anyone who laughs in exactly your way, and what makes you laugh or cry or think may have a totally different response in another. So – You’re Special.

You’re different from any other person who has ever lived in the history of the universe. You are the only one in the whole creation who has your particular set of abilities. There is always someone who is better at one thing or another. Every person is your superior in at least one way. Nobody in the universe can reach the quality of the combination of your talents, your feelings. Like a roomful of musical instruments some might excel in one way of another but nobody can match the symphonic sound when all are played together. Your Symphony. Through all eternity no one will ever walk, talk, think or do exactly like you. You’re Special.

You’re rare and in all rarity there is enormous value. You’re Special and it is no accident you are. Please realise that God made you for a special purpose. He has a job for you to do that nobody else can do as well as you can. Out of the billions of applicants only one is qualified. Only one has the unique and right combination of what it takes and that one is you. You’re Special!

13. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

16. Thou shall not borrow other people’s problems. They can better care for them than you can.

17. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!

18. Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear different ideas from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.

19. Thou shall not become “bogged down” by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.

20. Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.

I once heard a psychologist speak to a group of parents who were frustrated by their teenaged children’s undesirable behaviours. The psychologist explained, “Your adolescents are practicing to be adults, and they aren’t very good at it yet.”

Those words stayed with me. Not only did they enable me to be more patient with my son through his teenage years, but also I draw on them today in relation to my own maturing in Christ. I am practicing to be a good Christian, but I often demonstrate that I’m not very good at it yet. Fortunately, God is more patient with me than I was able to be as a parent.

Now when I do fail, I ask my loved ones to be patient with me. Just as teenagers usually grow up to be responsible adults, I am hoping — with God’s help — to become a more mature Christian.

Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive us when we fall short of your expectations for us. Help us to become the people you want us to be. Amen.
