Short Prayers

Short Prayers

O my God, I believe in You, and all that You have taught and revealed. Help my unbelief.

O my God, all good and merciful, I hope in You. Help me to do what is necessary for my salvation.

O my God, I have failed You often. I am sorry. Forgive me for having offended You, so good and worthy of all love.

O my God, I love You. Help me never to offend You again.

My Jesus, Who died for me, have mercy on me, save my soul.

Lord, help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that You and I together can’t handle.

A Trick

A TRICK
Author Unknown

A young man, a student in one of our universities, was one day taking a walk with a professor, who was commonly called the students’ friend, from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.

As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a field close by, and who had nearly finished his day’s work.

The student turned to the professor, saying: “Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them.”

“My young friend,” answered the professor, “we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give yourself a much greater pleasure by means of the poor man. Put a coin into each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how the discovery affects him.”

The student did so, and they both placed themselves behind the bushes close by.

The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes; but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found the coin.

Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon the coin, turned it round, and looked at it again and again. He then looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe; but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin.

His feelings overcame him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving, in which he spoke of his wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom the timely bounty, from some unknown hand, would save from perishing.

The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears. “Now,” said the professor, “are you not much better pleased than if you had played your intended trick?”

The youth replied, “You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget. I feel now the truth of those words, which I never understood before: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

My Prayer for you

My Prayer For You

May the good Lord bless
And keep you
Each hour of every day,
And be the light that guides you
Each step along life“s way.

May He comfort and sustain you
When things perplex your mind,
May He be your inspiration
Your lofty goals to find.

May He be with you in spirit
And help your burdens bear,
May He ever find you worthy
Of His tender love and care.

A Good-bye kiss

Tissue Alert!!!!!

A GOOD-BYE KISS

By Thomas Charles Clary

The Board Meeting had come to an end. Bob started to stand up and
jostled the table, spilling his coffee over his notes. “How
embarrassing. I am getting so clumsy in my old age.” Everyone had a
good laugh, and soon we were all telling stories of our most
embarrassing moments. It came around to Frank who sat quietly
listening to the others. Someone said, “Come on, Frank. Tell us your
most embarrassing moment.” Frank laughed and began to tell us of his
childhood.

“I grew up in San Pedro. My Dad was a fisherman, and he loved the
sea. He had his own boat, but it was hard making a living on the sea.
He worked hard and would stay out until he caught enough to feed the
family. Not just enough for our family, but also for his Mom and Dad
and the other kids that were still at home.” He looked at us and
said, “I wish you could have met my Dad. He was a big man, and he was
strong from pulling the nets and fighting the seas for his catch.
When you got close to him, he smelled like the ocean. He would wear
his old canvas, foul-weather coat and his bibbed overalls. His rain
hat would be pulled down over his brow. No matter how much my Mother
washed them, they would still smell of the sea and of fish.” Frank’s
voice dropped a bit. “When the weather was bad he would drive me to
school. He had this old truck that he used in his fishing business.
That truck was older than he was. It would wheeze and rattle down the
road. You could hear it coming for blocks. As he would drive toward
the school, I would shrink down into the seat hoping to disappear.
Half the time, he would slam to a stop and the old truck would belch
a cloud of smoke. He would pull right up in front, and it seemed like
everybody would be standing around and watching. Then he would lean
over and give me a big kiss on the cheek and tell me to be a good
boy. It was so embarrassing for me. Here, I was twelve years old, and
my Dad would lean over and kiss me good-bye!”

He paused and then went on, “I remember the day I decided I was too
old for a good-bye kiss. When we got to the school and came to a
stop, he had his usual big smile. He started to lean toward me, but I
put my hand up and said, ‘No, Dad.’ It was the first time I had ever
talked to him that way, and he had this surprised look on his face.
I said, ‘Dad, I’m too old for a good-bye kiss. I’m too old for any
kind of kiss.’ My Dad looked at me for the longest time, and his
eyes started to tear up. I had never seen him cry. He turned and
looked out the windshield. ‘You’re right,’ he said. ‘You are a big
boy….a man. I won’t kiss you anymore.’” Frank got a funny look on
his face, and the tears began to well up in his eyes, as he
spoke. “It wasn’t long after that when my Dad went to sea and never
came back. It was a day when most of the fleet stayed in, but not
Dad. He had a big family to feed. They found his boat adrift with its
nets half in and half out. He must have gotten into a gale and was
trying to save the nets and the floats.”

I looked at Frank and saw that tears were running down his cheeks.
Frank spoke again. “Guys, you don’t know what I would give to have my
Dad give me just one more kiss on the cheek….to feel his rough old
face….to smell the ocean on him….to feel his arm around my neck.
I wish I had been a man then. If I had been a man, I would never have
told my Dad I was too old for a good-bye kiss.”

May we never get too old to show our love..

The Important things in life

The Important Things in Life

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be - a roommate, a neighbor, a professor, a friend, a lover, or even a complete stranger - but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way.

Sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are sometimes the most important ones.

If someone loves you, give love back to them in whatever way you can, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and listen to what they have to say.

Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.

You can make anything you wish of your life. Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.

And if you love someone tell them, for you never know what tomorrow may have in store.

Learn a lesson in life each day that you live! Today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday.
Think About it? Was it worth it?

When I forget to pray

When I Forget to Pray

Sometimes when things are going great I forget to Pray
Then in darkness I stumble and lose my way.

I open a closet where I have tucked Jesus in
I have to ask for Guidance to find my way Again

Once More a light begins to shine
I find Peace and Contentment in this troubled Life of Mine

He says My Child did you forget I am always here for you
To help with the bad times you go through

I am The Alpha and Omega The Begining and The End
Child, I will not Forsake You, I am Your Best Friend.

Remember when you feel forsaken and you lose your way.
Just Bow Your Head and Open Up Your Heart

Don’t Forget To Pray!

- The Power of Habit -

~ THE POWER OF HABIT ~

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do you might as well turn over to
me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great individuals
And, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great I have made great
Those who are failures I have made failures.
I am not a machine,
Though I work with all the precision of a machine
Plus the intelligence of a human being.
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin;
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me,
And I will put the world at your feet
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am habit!

Faith is stronger than fears

Faith Is Stronger Than Fears

Sometimes my cross is hard to bear
for there is darkness everywhere,
and troubles pile around my door
like autumn leaves forevermore.

The morning light seems far away,
like I am stuck in yesterday,
My heart is beating like a drum,
I try to pray, but words won’t come.

But then the sun begins to rise
and hope is born within my eyes.
A rainbow forms among my tears,
my faith is stronger than my fears!

Roses and Thorns

ROSES AND THORNS
Author Unknown

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully, and before it
blossomed, he examined it. He saw the bud that would soon blossom and
also the thorns. And he thought, “How can any beautiful flower come
from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?” Saddened by this thought, he
neglected to water the rose, and before it was ready to bloom, it
died.

So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-
like qualities planted in us at birth grow amid the thorns of our
faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the
defects. We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from
us. We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. We
never realize our potential.

Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must
show it to them.

One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach
past the thorns and find the rose within others. This is the
characteristic of love, to look at a person, and knowing his faults,
recognize the nobility in his soul, and help him realize that he can overcome his faults.
If we show him the rose, he will conquer the thorns.

Our duty in this world is to help others by showing them their roses
and not their thorns. Only then can we achieve the love we should feel
for each other; only then can we bloom in our own garden.

If we feel ……..

If we feel…
…it is not fair that some are better off although
undeserved,
…it is not fair that some are always more lucky for no
good reason,
…it is not fair that some get away with anything while
we have have to account for everything,

then we should ask ourselves…
…is it fair that many people in the world have little or
nothing to eat while we take food for granted?
…is it fair that many people are not even lucky enough
to have proper shelter?
…is it fair that a faultless man had to be crucified to
account for our wrongdoing?

God has for you -
A Light for every shadow
A Plan for every tomorrow
A Key for every problem
A Balm for every sorrow….
